Library Cards for Kids

Kids can use their library card to borrow a wide range of materials designed to spark their interest in reading and research! Their library card can also provide access to online eBooks, magazines and movies for fun online learning and leisure. 

Complete this Library Card Application Form and return to your local library to get a FREE membership for your child. A reminder that parents/guardians of a child (from birth up to and including age 12) will be asked to present their own identification to register their child for a Library card. 

Finding eBooks and More

Search for items using our online library catalogue, myBPL, any time from your phone, tablet or computer. If you need help finding information, contact us and we’ll be happy to help you find what you’re looking for! Don't have time to make it in but have a child who just loves unicorns? We can fill that request and pull the items for you, and you just have to come pick it up. It's called Busy Bundles!

Learn Online

Our Digital Library gives you access to information from magazine articles, newspapers and encyclopedias. Summer Reading Club

Get ready for Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all interests and abilities. TD Summer Reading Club (SRC) is a free program that celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories. It’s designed to inspire kids to explore the fun of reading in their own way. Bibliography Help

 A bibliography is a list of books from a specific author or publisher, or on a specific subject.

Why do I need to make a bibliography
A bibliography helps you know where you got your information from and it lets your teacher know you are giving proper credit for your sources of information.

What do I include in a bibliography?
You should list every source you use such as a book, a movie, a website, an interview or any information that did not come from you.

Where do I put the bibliography for my assignment?
The bibliography goes at the end of your assignment. The title of this page should be Bibliography or Works Cited.

How to make a bibliography

  • Alphabetize by the author’s last name
  • If there’s no author listed, go by the first main word of the title
  • Use the bibliography style that your teacher requests

Ready, Set, Kindergarten!

We offer a Kindergarten prep course called Ready Set Kindergarten. Library programs improve school readiness, vocabulary development, motivation to read, narrative awareness, phonological awareness, and print awareness. We are devoted to encouraging parents and caregivers to spend time together reading books!

We also offer a Kindergarten Bootcamp where we take our learnings from Ready, Set, Kindergarten and condense them into 3 days. This is a great chance for your future Kindergarten star to get used to being without their caregiver in a small, safe environment while practicing their ABC's and 1, 2, 3's

Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a fun, interactive in person trivia extravaganza  featuring the Ontario Library Association Silver Birch Forest of Reading Nominee titles, some classics and more. Students in Grades 4 to 8 are challenged to read the books, then come together and challenge other teams to become the ultimate battle of the books champion. Learn more here about Battle of the Books.
