Do you dream of finding lost treasures? With the help of a Metal Detector Kit from the library, you can bring those dreams to life! (Treasures not guaranteed...)
Each metal detector features a 10 inch, waterproof coil with the ability to locate something as small as a quarter up to 10” underground. Grab a Metal Detector and head out to one of our amazing beaches or parks here in Barrie and see what lost and hidden treasure you can find!
Each Metal Detector Kit includes:
- Adjustable length metal detector with 10” coil
- Headphones
- Metal detector pinpointer
- Collapsable trowel in pouch
- Carrying Bag
- Batteries
It is important to note that while the coil is waterproof, the control box is not.
Metal Detecting Rules:
- Always be respectful
- Never trespass
- Be familiar with legislation pertaining to your area prior to your search
How to Borrow
You can place a Metal Detector Kit on hold and choose to pick it up at any Barrie Public Library location. Metal Detector Kits can be borrowed for up to one week, with a limit of two “Library of Things” items per card holder.
How to Return
Metal Detector Kits can be returned to any Barrie Public Library location during library hours of operation. While we no longer have late fees, if the item is damaged or lost a replacement fee of $81 will be charged to the borrower's account.
