Get your start with working in your garden with a Gardening Kit from our Library of Things!
Discover the wonder of building a garden and watching plants grow. Take some time to smell the flowers and learn which plants are native to the soil here in Barrie, which are invasive, what a pollinator garden is and how to build one, and which plants you can eat!
Gardening Kits are available for everyone of all ages; additionally, we have Junior Gardening Kits with little tools for little hands. Introduce your young child to the wonders of your own backyard!
Each Gardening Kit includes:
- Basic Tools (trowel, cultivator, transplanter, pruner, weeder)
- Gardening Tool Tote
- Knee Pads
- Book
Each Junior Gardening Kit Includes:
- Gardening Tool Tote
- Gardening Apron
- Basic tools (trowel, fork, rake, shovel)
- Watering Can
- Native Plant ID Sheet
How to Borrow
Gardening Kits can be borrowed for up to one week. Limit of two “Library of Things” items per card holder. You can place Gardening Kits on hold and choose to pick them up at any Barrie Public Library location.
How to Return
Gardening Kits can be returned to any Barrie Public Library location during library hours of operation. While we no longer have late fees, if the item is damaged or lost a replacement fee of $102 (adult kits) or $29 (junior kits) will be charged to the borrower's account.
