Visit New Book Alerts to browse new books received in the last 30 days by category. Subscribe to the New Book Alerts service to receive one monthly email with links to new books in all categories. Alternatively, visit or subscribe to New Title highlights to receive only the top 10 titles per chosen category.

New Title Highlights

Visit New Title Highlights to view the top ten new titles in each category that arrived at BPL over the last 30 days. You can sign up for one or more categories of titles that you are interested in. Once per month you will receive one email for each category that lists the top new titles with links to the catalogue so that you can place holds on new titles.

Monthly Picks

Visit this page to discover suggested titles by category. Books in monthly picks include titles received by the library in the last few years rather than new books that may require you to place the item on hold. View the lists online or subscribe to receive monthly emails.

Staff Picks

Visit Staff Picks to view or subscribe to monthly newsletters created by BPL staff members. Current newsletters include French Infolettre (covering programs, collections, and other information) and The Electric Library (covering updates about our electronic resources).

Awards Lists

Visit Awards Lists to view BPL titles grouped by Awards including the Ontario Library Association's Forest of Reading (Blue Spruce, Red Maple, Silver Birch, etc), the Man Booker Prize, the New York Times BestSeller Lists, Oprah's Book Club, etc.
Some Canadian Award lists may be found under Web Lists.

AuthorCheck

Visit AuthorCheck to keep track of authors you like and receive email alerts when books by your tracked authors are added to the library catalogue.

Author Spotlight

Author Spotlight newsletters contain author information and their latest books received at BPL. Subscribe for one or more categories of authors that you are interested in and once a month you will receive an email highlighting two authors in the spotlight in your selected categories.

My SelectReads

Turn your library's collection into your own personal book shelf with MySelectReads! Think of MySelectReads as your personal librarian – alerting you to new titles on subjects you’ve selected for yourself.

Search to find topics you’re interested in, enter your email address and you’ll receive a weekly bulletin with book recommendations generated specifically for you – it’s that simple! When searching subjects, it may be best to start with a very general term to view the results rather than starting with a very specific term.

Web Lists

Visit Web Lists to view booklists created by BPL staff members. Available lists include the top titles of the previous year, Canadian Award Lists, and more.
