Our buildings remain open for in-person browsing, borrowing, and computer use. At this time, we ask that you limit your length of stay to 60 minutes or less. Computer use will also be limited to 60 minutes. Our hours have changed slightly due to the growing case numbers in Ontario. View our updated hours.

Need to print your vaccination receipt? You can do that at the library for free! Please note we are not able to provide lamination.

All Programs Now Virtual

With the rise in COVID-19 case numbers, our in-person programming has been modified and will now be held as online Zoom programs. The programs listed below have unfortunately been cancelled until in-person programs can return:

  • Craft Meet-up
  • Toddler Time
  • French Connexion

BPL does NOT have Rapid-Antigen Tests

The Ministry of Health has shared that the broad distribution of COVID-19 Rapid Tests through all libraries is not planned. At this time, there are only two library sites in select higher-risk areas of the province that are identified (Ottawa and Peterborough). As a result, the Barrie Public Library does not have COVID-19 tests to distribute to the public. We will share updates if we receive any new information.

Stay Safe Guidelines

Our buildings are open to in-library and virtual services

Stay-safe guidelines for in-library services:

  • Stay home if you are feeling unwell
  • Wear a face covering that covers your nose, mouth and chin
  • Use hand sanitizer or wash hands with soap and water
  • Maintain 2m (6ft) physical distance between staff and other patrons
  • Limit your stay to under 60 minutes
  • Computer use limited to 60 minutes
  • No eating or drinking in the Library
  • Return items 24/7 using the outdoor return slots or inside the building during open hours

The safety of our patrons and staff is our top priority. To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, all in-person programs must meet the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit guidelines. These include mandatory masking, reduced capacity, physical distancing, and active health screening.
