Each October, Canadians celebrate Dyslexia Awareness Month. This year’s theme is 'RAISING THE VOLUME', and the intention is that these stories will help to inspire others, reduce stigma and motivate governments to identify and appropriately support children with dyslexia across the nation.

Dyslexia-Friendly Books

Check out our list of dyslexia-friendly books for children, teens, and adults. These books feature a special dyslexia-friendly font and other dyslexia-friendly features such as heavier off-white paper and increased white space.

Looking for even more dyslexia-friendly books? Head over to CloudLibrary to check out thousands of ebooks that can have the dyslexia-friendly font enabled once you check out a book!

C-PEN ReaderPens

The C-PEN ReaderPen is a portable scanning pen that reads printed text out loud using an embedded camera, a real-time optical character recognition (OCR) and natural voice text to speech (TTS). C-PEN ReaderPen is designed to assist those with reading challenges such as dyslexia, or those learning to read in English, French or Spanish.

Decodable Books

Decodable books are written in a way that allows children to practice these phonic skills, creating vital connections between letters and sounds. We have a large selection of decodable books at the library, and are creating a new Featured Collection so they are easy to find. And thanks to a $500 grant from International Dyslexia Association Ontario (IDA) our collection will be growing!
