What should I read to stay informed about the election? 

Explore the library's curated book list on Canadian politics. Learn about past and present political landscapes to help you make an informed vote.

The library provides free in-library and remote, digital access to local, national and international newspapers. BPL offers PressReader online database, which features full electronic access to current editions of national newspapers such as the Globe & Mail and Toronto Star (among many other publications).

Prefer to watch or listen to your news? The library also offers CBC Corner, a digital portal that brings together audio, video, and news content from Canada's national public broadcaster. CBC has also created new interactive tools to help you get informed: 

  • Vote Compass: a tool developed by political scientists to help you explore how your views compare with those of the parties.
  • Party Platform Tracker: Compare election platforms from Canada's six major parties.
  • Poll Tracker: Find out where the polls stand in the lead-up to the election.
