Barrie, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Essa, Innisfil and Midland Public Libraries are launching Simcoe Reads as a creative and entertaining way to connect with their members during a time of social distancing. As part of this summer-long reading celebration, each Library selects one Canadian book to champion, along with a local celebrity to argue the merits of that book. Lisa Morgan, booklover and host on 107.5 Kool FM radio, will champion the Barrie Public Library’s title – An Ocean of Minutes, by Thea Lim.
“We’re thrilled to have Lisa Morgan onboard for our first year of Simcoe Reads,” said Laura Lambert, Program & Outreach Librarian at the Barrie Public Library. “Lisa’s book choice is a topical and entertaining read and we look forward to hearing readers’ opinions on it. Simcoe Reads is a fantastic opportunity to bring our members and communities together this summer.”
The four other books and celebrities will be announced by the libraries during the week of June 15. Readers will have lots of time to read and form opinions before the live debate set for September 2020, when the winner will be crowned.
To join in the conversation and stay up to date on the competition, readers can search for or use the hashtag #SimcoeReads2020 and follow the participating libraries on Facebook. Visit barrielibrary.ca/SimcoeReads for all the details.
