Today Premier Ford announced Phase 1 of Ontario’s reopening plan, which listed services and industries that can resume some form of service as of May 19. Libraries were included in this list for curbside pickup.

At this time, the Barrie Public Library is not ready to offer curbside pickup or returns. The safety of staff and patrons remains our top priority, and it is imperative that we have appropriate personal protective equipment for staff before that can happen. As Premier Ford stated, “businesses should only open when they are absolutely ready.”

Library staff are actively working on a reopening plan that will introduce expanded services in phases. We will continue to follow the advice and guidance of provincial leaders and health authorities, and will only reintroduce services when we are ready to do it as safely as possible.

In the meantime, staying at home is encouraged, so we invite you to connect with us online.
