Ontario Public Library Week is October 19 - 25, and we are celebrating with a special event, Libraries for Life: A Shared Story.

On Tuesday, October 21, from 3:00 - 5:00pm at the Downtown Library, join us for refreshments and remarks from local dignitaries, library staff, and representatives from the Ontario Library Association and Federation of Ontario Public Libraries.
Our CEO, Lauren Jessop, will be sharing information about exciting library service enhancements we have planned, including our next location to be opened in northwest Barrie. Mayor Alex Nuttall and MPP designates will provide a proclamation for Ontario Public Library Week and remarks.
We will have a display set up with artifacts from the Barrie Public Library's rich history, dating back to 1854 when the President of the Mechanic's Institute requested funding to purchase a 'library and instruments'.
Don't miss this chance to explore BPL's past, celebrate the present, and learn more about our future.
