The Barrie Public Library's third annual BIG Spring Book Sale was a huge success, raising a total of $4,200 for the library's Creative Spaces

Held from May 23 to 25 at the Downtown Library, the event welcomed hundreds of visitors who came to browse an expansive selection of gently used books and media.

The sale included a blend of items recently removed from the library’s collection as well as donations from our community in the form of adult fiction and non-fiction, children’s books, movies, video games and CDs priced between $0.50 to $5.00.

"We're so thankful for our book-loving community here in Barrie," said Katelyn Lees, Philanthropy and Resource Development Specialist with the Barrie Public Library. "We had a line-up nearly all day on Friday! It’s always exciting to see how much our community supports the library. Every time we finish a book sale, we have people asking us when the next one is. It’s truly a beloved bi-annual event."

All proceeds from the sale will support the growth of the library's Creative Spaces, which provides access to innovative and creative tools for community use. The space is home to Cricut Makers, 3D printers, sewing machines, mug presses, and more. It is open to library visitors of all ages to explore their creativity and bring their ideas to life at minimal or no cost.

The library would like to thank all who donated materials for the sale, volunteered their time, or shopped the event. Community support continues to play a vital role in supporting the library's dynamic programs and services.

The Barrie Public Library's next book sale will take place in fall 2025.
