Love getting crafty in our Downtown Library’s Creative Spaces? It’s going to look a little different beginning this week!
If you’ve visited Downtown lately you may have noticed our Teen area has been cleared out. Don’t worry – we didn’t remove those materials. Young Adult titles are getting more popular with all age groups, so we’ve moved them onto main floor to make them more accessible to everyone.
This freed up the space to allow our Creative Spaces to move in! Our Downtown Creative Spaces closed on June 24 to start the process. As of July 2, the new space is now open!
As part of this new space, we are also moving to a cost-recovery model for supplies. There will be a modest fee for supplies like vinyl for the Cricut, 3D printer filament, and heat transfer paper. We will continue to sell sublimation mugs and hats for $5, and sublimation tumblers for $10. These changes provide more equitable access for everyone and allows us to recoup some of our increasing costs for this space.
We're currently working on an online booking system for the 3D Printers and Glowforge, which will be appointment-based. These machines can be used on a drop-in basis until further notice. As part of our cost-recovery model, using the 3D printer will cost $1/hour, and the Glowforge will be $5/hour. For all pricing information, please see our Price Guide.
Check out the Creative Spaces section of our website for all the creative tools you can unlock with your BPL library card. We can’t wait for you to check it out!
