It’s that time again book lovers! We are excited to launch Simcoe Reads 2024, a cover-to-cover fun-filled competition for adults with six local libraries.
The Barrie Public Library, Essa Public Library, Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, Midland Public Library, New Tecumseth Public Library, and Ramara Township Public Library have each selected one book and one local community member to champion it for this challenge.
How you can get involved: borrow all the books this summer, pick your favourite, and then join us in October to see which book will be crowned the winner. Follow the participating libraries on social media to learn more about each book chosen for the competition.
Our pick this year is Mindful of Murder by Susan Juby, championed by Amy Courser. In this comedic mystery, the main character, Helen Thorpe is a former Buddhist nun turned butler. When a death takes place in an upscale spiritual retreat, suspicions surround a group of suspects with a motive for murder.
You can borrow all six titles at the library:
- Barrie Public Library: Mindful of Murder by Susan Juby
- Essa Public Library: And Then She Fell by Alicia Elliot
- Innisfil ideaLAB & Library: The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters
- Midland Public Library: Moon of the Turning Leaves by Waubgeshig Rice
- New Tecumseth Public Library: Into the Bright Open by Cherie Dimaline
- Ramara Township Public Library: The Strangers by Katherena Vermette
