As spring approaches, it's time to dust off that green thumb and start gardening! We’ve got upcoming programs, resources, and book lists to help you in your garden. Check them out below.

The Seed Library is Here!

It’s time to start planning your garden! The Barrie Public Library is excited to announce the return of its Seed Library, a collection of seeds for the community to borrow and grow at home.

Now available at all three library locations (Downtown, Painswick, and Holly), the Seed Library provides a selection of vegetable and herb seeds. Seeds will be available from March 17 while supplies last. Last year, the library distributed over 3,000 seed packets to the community through this initiative.

The Seed Library is a community-driven effort, packaged by dedicated library volunteers and staff and supported by donations from community groups and local growers. This initiative is part of the library’s strategic commitment to being a green leader in the community.

Library members can borrow seeds at no cost, with the hope that successful growers will collect and return seeds from their harvest to help sustain the collection for future seasons.
