Winter is here, and the Barrie Public Library is ready to celebrate! From winter adventures to cozy Storytimes, there’s no shortage of fun for the whole family this month.

Winterfest
In partnership with the City of Barrie, the library will be at Winterfest in Centennial Park & Will Dwyer Park on Saturday, February 1 from 10 am to 3 pm for interactive winter activities. Paint in the snow, explore our cozy StoryWalk, or build something amazing!
The February Blues Festival
Enjoy the slow tempo and strong rhythm of the blues, live in the library. The February Blues Festival will be hosting The Boathouse Blues Project at the Painswick Library on Sunday, February 2 from 2-4 pm.
Cozy Storytime by the Fireplace at MacLaren Art Centre
Families are invited to attend Cozy Storytime in front of the fireplace at the MacLaren Art Centre on Sunday, February 2 from 12:30-1 pm. Sign up and stay for MacLaren's special Family Sunday workshop or drop by the Downtown Library for more literacy fun.
Family Day Weekend
Celebrate Family Day with us from February 15-16, 2025, with fun family-friendly events all weekend long! Enjoy The Wild Robot movie at the Painswick Library or race on the Nintendo Switch at the Holly Library. For full event details, check out our Events Calendar.
Please note all library locations will be closed on Monday, February 17 for Family Day.
Nature in Winter
Join us in celebrating the beauty of Nature in Winter at Sunnidale Park and Dorian Parker Centre! This family-friendly event on Saturday, February 15 is filled with indoor and outdoor activities for all ages. We will be on-site from 10 am to 2 pm with nature play activities including Library of Things demos, snow painting, crafts, and more!
