We've partnered with the City of Barrie and Barrie Region Innovation Xchange (BRIX) to offer a Maker in Residence series this fall and winter. This partnership strives to promote Barrie’s creative economy and maker community by providing opportunities to participate in maker initiatives at the Library. Join us to learn the basics of maker activities like coding, woodworking and more. 

Kids Coding

Learn how to program using code in this two-part workshop. Ages 12-16.

Sunday, October 14 & 21, 2-4pm 

October 14: Learn how to concepts around programming, writing Scratch programs.
October 21: Learn how to use Python to expand on your programming knowledge.

Parent & Child Arduino

Learn the basics of programming with Arduino. The open-source Arduino Software (IDE) makes it easy to write code and upload it to any Arduino board. Ages 8-12 with a parent or caregiver. 

Sunday, November 4 & 11, 2-4pm

November 4: Code lights to blink and write a scrolling LED message.
November 11: Connect an Arduino to external devices by making a simple alarm circuit.
