You’re never too young to join the library, and now the Barrie Public Library’s youngest patrons can have a library card of their very own!
Kids can visit any of our locations to sign up for ‘My Own Library Card’.
“A library card is a fantastic way for parents to not only bond over reading with their child, but to give their child the best start in life,” explains Lauren Jessop, CEO of the Barrie Public Library. “With three adorable designs to choose from, kids get to feel that sense of ownership and pride of belonging to the library with their very own card.”
Children will have access to the entire Barrie Public Library children’s collection with their library card, including books, board books, DVDs, video games and more.
“Countless studies have shown that early literacy skills have a lifelong impact on future success,” continued Jessop. “We hope that parents will use this card to make library visits a regular part of their routine.”
In addition to borrowing materials, parents and children are encouraged to attend free weekly children’s programs, including Baby Goose, Family Storytimes and Play, Learn, Grow.
Library memberships are free to those who live, work or study in the City of Barrie, as well as residents of Oro-Medonte.
