The date for the 19th annual Barrie Dragon Boat Festival hosted by Barrie Public Library and presented by Tim Hortons is set for Saturday, August 19, 2023!
"We are excited to announce that Tim Hortons has once again returned as the Presenting Sponsor of the festival,” says Chris Vanderkruys, Director of Business & Development for the Barrie Public Library.
The library’s long-standing relationship with Tim Hortons has helped raise thousands of much-needed funds supporting many charitable causes, including the Library’s Future Branches campaign. This year, the library’s organizing committee expects upwards of 40 teams joining them at the city of Barrie’s beautiful Heritage Park for a day of paddling for a cause on Kempenfelt Bay!
“It gives me great joy that plans for the festival are beginning to heat up! This event is one of my favourite things about summer, and I personally can’t wait to welcome many new and returning teams back to the waterfront,” adds Vanderkruys.
Year after year, the Barrie Dragon Boat Festival enables the Library to live out its vision of bringing the community together, attracting many new and returning teams from various backgrounds. The event has a strong community focus, welcoming paddlers of all skill levels.
Registration is Open!
Registration is now open and teams can take advantage of Early Bird savings until April 30. A fun incentive for Early Bird teams this year, generously provided by Tim Hortons, is a contest to win ‘Coffee for a Year’ for their team! All teams who are fully registered during the Early Bird registration window will be entered into a random draw to win Tim Hortons Coffee for their entire team, a value of $800.00 CAD*
