Our 16th annual Barrie Dragon Boat Festival was held on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Despite the rainy weather and rough conditions, teams were in high spirits and the festival was another great success!

47 teams competed in the event, paddling and raising money for their charity of choice. Final totals are still being tallied, but over the past 15 years the festival has raised over $1.85 million for more than 60 charities in Barrie and area.

The Barrie Public Library would like to thank everyone involved in making this festival a success - paddlers, crew, sponsors, volunteers, community partners, civic leaders, businesses, vendors, organizations, staff and committee members.

Due to the weather, teams were only able to complete two races instead of three. Based on those two races, this year's results were as follows:

Platinum Division1st Place: Paddlestrong – sponsored by the Barrie Community Family Health Team

Platinum Division – 2nd Place: Busch Buccaneers

Platinum Division – 3rd Place: Paddle of Fury

Gold Division Winners: In Sync

Silver Division Winners: The DUCA Dragon Boat Team

Bronze Division Winners: Westside Winded

Copper Division Winners: Honda Team 1

Iron Division Winners: BACA Team 1

Spirit Award: Baywood Veterinary – How to Spay your Dragon

Best Dressed: Loggie-Five-O

Bruce Saunders Rookie Team of the Year: Orange Crush

Top Fundraiser: The Geri-Antics for Grove Park Home

The Barrie Dragon Boat Festival is proudly hosted by the Barrie Public Library and presented by Tim Hortons.
