Saturday, August 20 marked the return of the 18th annual Barrie Dragon Boat Festival hosted by the Barrie Public Library and presented by Tim Hortons!
This year’s event was our first in–person return since the pandemic caused us to pause for a two-year hiatus. Energy from the teams and spectators was immeasurable and a positive atmosphere was found throughout the event grounds.
Twenty teams joined us at Heritage Park for a day of racing on Kempenfelt Bay, paddling in unison and raising over $30,000 for local charitable organizations, including the Barrie Public Library. Lions, Tigers, Unicorns & Lions joined us at the BPL Discovery Area which was filled with family friendly activities and a unique dragon theme craft, generously provided by our friends at Moore Packaging.
The Barrie Public Library would like to thank its teams, volunteers, suppliers, community partners and sponsors for their contributions in making this year’s event a roaring success and to our presenting sponsor Tim Hortons for their continued support and dedication. See you in 2023!
