The Barrie Public Library proudly celebrates the return of its 18th annual Barrie Dragon Boat Festival by recognizing long-time library supporter, Tim Hortons.
The festival returns to the shores of Kempenfelt Bay on Saturday, August 20.
“We’re back!” exclaims Katelyn Lees as she looks back on how the partnership between the two organizations has flourished over the years. Tim Hortons, who has been the events’ presenting sponsor for more than a decade, plays a unique role in the festival.
“At Tim Hortons, you’re always welcome,” says Paul Stevenson, Restaurant Owner. “We’re happy to serve you each day, and even happier when we can work together to help make a meaningful difference in our community. That is why we are once again proud partners of the Barrie Dragon Boat Festival.”
Throughout the years, Tim Hortons has played a growing role in supporting the event. While their sponsorship investment helps to offset event costs, it has also featured Tim Hortons’ Coffee for Causes and the Top Fundraising Team Cup. Tim Hortons also fuels event volunteers with complimentary food and beverages, as well as provides the Tim Hortons dragon boat that teams practice in throughout the summer months.
“Tim Hortons’ dedication to the Library continued to shine through the COVID-19 pandemic, even when we had to cancel the festival,” continued Katelyn Lees. “Tim Hortons generously supported our virtual ‘Dragon Boat Month’ in 2021, providing amazing prizes for our summer programs. While that was a wonderful way to keep our community engaged, we are beyond thrilled to welcome the festival back in-person this year.”
