Do I have to return my item to the branch I borrowed it from?

No – items can be returned to whichever Barrie Public Library branch is more convenient for you.

How long can I borrow an item for?

The loan period depends on the item you’re borrowing. See our Loan Periods and Fines page for full details.

How many items can I check out on my card?

You can borrow up to 35 items at a time, including 15 DVDs and 3 games.

How can I see my fines?

Log in to your MyBPL account to see your fines, items you have checked out, due dates and more.

How can I pay my fines?

Fines can be paid at our service desks by cash, debit, credit, or at our self-checkout machines by credit or debit. The self-check machines are located in our children’s area and near the main service desk.

I can't find the item I'm looking for? What do I do?

If the item was published within the last 12 months, fill out our Suggest a Title form to suggest we purchase a title. If it’s older than 12 months, make a request through our Interlibrary Loan service and we may be able to borrow it from another library.

I can't remember my PIN. How do I reset it?

On the Library Account Login page click Forget Your PIN? and it will email you a link to set a new PIN. You can also reset it in person at either branch. Show your photo ID to staff at the desk and they’ll be able to reset it for you. Due to privacy reasons, we can’t do this over the phone or by email.

I think my card is expired. Can I renew it?

Yes! Bring in your photo ID and proof of address to either branch and we’ll be happy to renew it for you.

I lost my library card. Can I get a new one?

Yes – there’s a $2 charge for a new card. Bring in your photo ID and proof of address to either branch and we’ll be happy to get you a new one.
